What is Iaas in cloud computing ?

Let’s try to answer to your question: What is IAAS in cloud computing ?

Iaas is one of the three Cloud Computing components (with SaaS and PaaS). If you don’t already know, Cloud Computing is a technology that allows to store files and folders in an area on the Internet. The aim is to offer a faster innovation and flexible resources.
Iaas solutions, meaning “Infrastructure as a Service”, provide IT infrastructure, whether it is server, network, or data storage. This Iaas cloud computing required skills and autonomy in order to manage operating system, data, applications, etc.

There are three diferrent types of Iaas solutions:

  • Public Iaas: resources are generally shared by all the supplier’s clients and are available through the Internet.
  • Private Iaas: it’s an internal IT service that provides the availability and the renting of the resources.
  • Hybrid Iaas: it’s a combination of private and public Iaas. Resources are obtained thanks to both internal and external services suppliers.

Thanks to Iaas, companies can free themselves of the restraints of having servers within their companies or using only server resources that they need. Rather than having to buying or rent fixed server space in a datacenter that can be very expensive and then having to pay human labor to manage IT services, Iaas allows companies to rent space in the virtual data center. In other words, Iaas cloud computing service dematerialize infrastructure material.

You may wonder what are the advantages of Iaas in cloud computing? Well, the infrastructure is evolutive depending on the needs of treatment, and storage. Companies save money on cost of purchasing. Since data are stocked in the cloud, a failure can never led to an unavailability. Finally, Iaas services allow the virtualization of administrative tasks, which frees up bandwidth for other activities with a higher added-value.
