Thanks for your interest in Logs Data Platform.
Dashboard is one of the aspect of the platform. Having widgets that will give you an indication of the health and activity of your whole infrastructure, application or any core business activity can be interesting in itself. For exemple you can have a widget which tracks how many times a particular program is launched or which users are connecting to your machine.
The main goal of this platform is to be able to centralize all the logs of your different devices (could be routers, virtual machines, bare metal hosts, connected objects), in one place so you can easily analyze or correlate data of your whole infrastructure.
Make some of theses logs actionable with alert conditions may help in term of quality of service. Let you dig in detail with an efficient full text search engine the root causes of the issues you may have in production might probably help also.
If you have a team, isolate your dashboards and streams according to your population is another use case. You can have different dashboards and access rights for devops team and for market team for example, with appropriate data in each. It's a good way to give insights to your team on what's happening in production without giving concrete access to it.
If you need more advanced features that what Graylog proposes, then you can also decide to explore, and visualize your logs with some of the best tool for that: Kibana, fully managed and available on the platform, or Grafana, fully supported by the platform.
There are also legal concerns that the platform solves by giving you a way to coldstore logs for years. If you have the habit to use volatile resources like virtual machines or containers, LDP is a good way to answer legal requests.
In the end, there are as many uses as there are customers, which is why summing up the experience around the dashboard only seems difficult to us. The idea is to make the platform as flexible as possible to allow everyone to create their own journey.
If you don't know our guides yet, I invite you to discover them here: https://docs.ovh.com/fr/logs-data-platform/. You will find different use cases that will maybe inspire you there.
If you have a particular use case in mind, don't hesitate to share it to us, we'll be glad to help you.
